What we believe
There are many groups and organisations,
large and small, public, private and
voluntary, that provide valuable services to
a local community. What is the role of the
local church?
In addition to providing relevant local
activities, sharing our resources with others
who do the same, and getting out and
about in the community in practical ways,
we believe that the unique contribution of
the local church is to share the message of
hope that God has entrusted to us.
To put it another way, we believe that as
well as providing for people’s physical,
mental, emotional and practical needs, we
have been given the answer to our
greatest need which is spiritual.
One person put it this way:
"If our greatest need had been
information, God would have sent us an
educator; if our greatest need had been
technology, God would have sent us a
scientist; if our greatest need had been
money, God would have sent us an
economist; if our greatest need had
been pleasure, God would have sent us
an entertainer; but our greatest need
was forgiveness, so God sent us a
Saviour."
